This Saturday was the end of our RC car racing season. Our teams had several setbacks this year. The main issue this year was a lack of time. Students at Coopersville have so many opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities. Other priorities took some of our team members this year. Many of the people who wanted to work on the cars were with our Electrathon team in Iowa on the same day. Luckily the incredible students in picture above swept in and saved the program in the last two weeks!
I am incredibly proud of all the students who helped with the cars this year. This is the first time that we had two teams. The boys team did great and made it to the B main before a mechanical issue took them out of the race. The girls team impressed the judges with the ingenious modifications that they made to their car. The girls also won a years worth of bragging rights by beating the boys team in the top speed challenge by 10 mph. They were the only all girls team at the competition. Besides Catherine Plank, and Kasey Haney I would also like to thank Jordyn Purvins for her hard work. Jordyn put in a lot of time getting the car ready even though she knew should would be in Iowa during the race.
